| Q8b25: How to use iCAMView with Active
Webcam (version 11.2)

Graphics courtesy of Jonathan Lewkowicz. |
Q8828: I've signed up, entered my camera
information, set up an account. Checked on my web cam server and found
the default domain name to be what I set up. When I type
(http://sample88.icv99.net ) where sample08 is the domain name, it
comes back as "Page can not be displayed" on Internet Explorer. How
come it does not allow access from a computer using
sample88.iCV99.net?
When I log into my account at www.icv99.net, I can see the camera and
it shows it is online. I click on the eye and it will show a picture.
I can even access the camera by entering my IP address within my
network.
The service are setup correctly, but these are two different types
of service.
Type / Method 1: iMage Server located at http://www.iCV99.net
This is designed as an easy connect feature. Once activated from your
LAN Web User Interface (Advanced --> iMage Server) you can then login
to the www.iCV99.net website to view the video. However, this method
allows you to view video ONLY, you are not able to login from remote
to manage your Web User Interface. See Q8824 on router setting,
if necessary.
Type / Method 2: DDNS domain name located at http://ddns.iCV99.net
This is the other method to see video stream over internet. Each unit comes pre-assigned with a
domain name (example: 3921234567.iCV99.net, where the numbers are the
product unique serial number). From the Web UI, just goto Basic
Settings -->
Network --> enable free DDNS and you can use that domain name.
(Note: consider also using another 3rd party DDNS to provide a
back-up in the DDNS server is down)
However, you must also setup Port Forwarding on your Router.
You MUST open LAN port 80 (TCP) to WAN port 80 (TCP), and another LAN
port 9001 (UDP) to WAN port 9001 (UDP). Once you have done this, than
from any PC that is connected to the internet, you can just type
http://3921234567.iCV99.net and you will login to the Web UI.
In this case the default domain name http://3921234567.iCV99.net has
been renamed to
http://sample88.iCV99.net |
| Q8827: How to do a Hardware Reset (for HCV91
& IP-07 models only)
HCV91 units have a hardware reset button located at the back.
To factory default;
1. Unplug the power and LAN cable,
2. While holding down the pin-hole reset button, replug the power.
You'll notice the both the LAN light blinks 3x then goes off. The
system will restart and the LCD will show "0".
3. While still keeping the pin-hole button held and wait for about
45 seconds. This cause the system to delete, reset and
reboot.
4. The LAN lights will blink once signal the reset. Once you see
the LCD screen display comes on, you can release the pin.
The unit should now be reset to factory default and will reboot.
Connect the LAN cable and it will search for the DHCP IP.
|
| Q8824: I have setup and log in to
http://www.iCV99.net but after clicking on the eye icon, the page says
"Cannot find server" or I just see a black screen.
A couple of possibilities;
Possibility 1: Generally, no setting is required on the router.
However, on some routers the UDP port will be blocked. To resolve
this, you need to do port forwarding for UDP 9001 port. See the
following illustration. Note: Setup name / procedure may be
different on your router.

Possibility 2: If you have set a User Account from the server's Web
User Interface (Basic Settings --> Account Settings --> User Account).
Than you must also enter that information in your
www.iCV99.net account.
|
| Q7B06: I would like to create a URL link to
access images from my webpage.
Note: Applicable to HCV91 firmware *.CV91.7B06 and HCV73 firmware
*.CV73.7A02 and above only.
Video streaming on webpage can be achieved using META / Java
script.

protective housing. This is not supplied.
|
| Q8. Is the camera capable of zooming by adding a zoom
lens?
You can add a zoom lens, but will have to adjust the zoom manually.
The default camera does not support 'remote' zoom.
|
| Q9. My iCAMView is connected to a Router and I can see
it in LAN but my friends can't see it from the Web? How do I set
up iCAMView for the web?
For users with DYNAMIC IP;
(a) From your PC log-on to any of the 4 free DDNS webpage listed in
(Basic Settings --> Network --> Dynamic DNS).
i. dyndns.org (server in USA)
ii. myddns.com (server in USA)
iii. dhs.org (server in China)
iv. zive.org (server in Japan)
NOTE: 3322.org (server in China)
--> this is no longer supported in our standard firmware. It is
only available for OEM firmware.
(b) Create a USER ACCOUNT and Password. Choose your Domain
Name.
(c) From your PC log-on to your iCAMView as Administrator. Enter the above
information in (b) into the Dynamic DNS section. Make sure the
"Use Public IP to Register" is set to "Yes" Then Click "Apply"
located at the bottom of screen. Not "Update".

Note: Please allow 5 minutes for the DDNS server to be
updated with your Current WAN IP.
If iCAMView is connected to a Router or IP Share then;
(d) Go to your Address Translation / NAT / Firewall section of your
ROUTER. Open up TCP port 80 and UDP port 9001, make sure that
the TCP port is not currently used by your router, otherwise choose a
different port.
Note: Here you are using iCAMView to check your
current WAN IP and update the DDNS server. Alternatively, if
your ROUTER supports DDNS, you can input the above details (b) in your
ROUTER. In which case, your ROUTER will update the DDNS server
with your current WAN IP.
If CAMView is connected to your xDSL line or HUB, then;
(e) In iCAMView, goto Basic Settings --> Network --> PPPoE, and
enter the details.
For users with STATIC IP; proceed directly to (d) or (e).
|
|
Q10. I'm connecting
iCAMView to a HUB, how do I set it to access the internet?
1. Make sure that PPPoE section in
iCAMView is setup to connect to your ISP, and;
2. Make sure that Dynamic DNS in
iCAMView is setup.
|
| Q11. I can not access iCAMView Web Manager. I
have opened up all the ports.
1. Check that your Router and iCAMVIew are not both also using
EXTERNAL / WAN port 80. If it is, change one to another EXTERNAL
/ WAN port.
2. If you changed iCAMView default HTTP port 80 to another say,
port 8081. Then you will have to redirect your web browser by
typing http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8081 where http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is iCAMView IP address.
|
| Q12. I can access iCAMView Web Manager but cannot view
images when clicking ActiveX / SunJava.
Make sure that you have a UDP port 9001 opened.
|
| Q13. There is no Port Forwarding Section in my Router.
Different Routers have different setup for this section. In
general, a more advanced router will allow you to forward Internal
/ LAN port to an External / WAN port. You can assign
an internal port number to be forwarded to a different external port
number.
However, there are also Routers which can not do this. Your
internal port = external port, and you are only allowed to open a
range of ports. Please check with your router's manufacturer
on how to open the port for your router.
|
| Q14. I setup the Email Server (SMTP) but I can't seem
to receive any emails.
Make sure that your Internet Security Software / SPAM software does
not block outgoing emails.
|
| Q15. What bandwidth is required by iCAMView?
The average "Bytes of Image per Frame"
is between 4Kbytes - 9Kbytes. This size is determined according to
color saturation of the image captured. Therefore, the "Frame per
Second" (FPS) = "Data transmission rate" (in Bytes/s) divided
by "Bytes of Image per Frame" (Bytes/frame)
You can check your current FPS setting
in iCAMView. Network --> Account Settings --> FPS (default is
10)
At 10 FPS, iCAMView will need about
40Kbytes - 90Kbytes of bandwidth.
NOTE:
bps = bits per second (8 bits =1 Byte)
Most ADSL throughput speed varies, and is dependent on distance and
environmental constraints. In most cases the actual throughput
is only about 75%.
If you are using 56Kbps dial-up, your average speed should be
around 4 Kbytes/sec - 6 Kbytes/sec
If you are using 512Kbps ADSL, your average speed should be around
40 Kbytes/sec - 50 Kbytes/sec If you are using T1 (1536Kbps) ADSL,
your average speed should be 120 Kbytes/sec or higher.
If you are using 2M (2000Kbps) ADSL, your average speed should be 160
Kbytes/sec or higher.
